About the Benefits Explorer Tool
The Benefits Explorer Tool (BET) is a free, 'one-stop-shop' to help people find and access programs that make it easier to afford essentials like food, transportation, utilities, child college savings, and more – programs that can save hundreds of dollars each month. You can find and connect to programs that make it easier to care for your family, stay healthy, and reach your goals.
With the BET, you can quickly find benefits and programs you're eligible for. For example, if you have Medi-Cal, you likely qualify for discounts on utilities, free or low-cost phone plans, and more.
The BET is safe to use and your information stays anonymous.
The BET was created in partnership with the UCLA Medical-Financial Partnership (MFP) and One Degree in 2021.
Who We Are

UCLA MFP
The UCLA Medical-Financial Partnership (MFP) is a first-of-its-kind, cross-sector service organization of physicians, social workers, and financial services experts whose goal is to improve health by preventing child and family poverty and promoting economic opportunity through health care.
Since 2018, MFP has integrated economic resilience services into clinical care and pioneered evidence-based strategies connecting families to anti-poverty programs that all families with children on Medicaid are eligible for but that remain highly underutilized.
MFP's work has contributed to building health system capacity to address financial well-being as an upstream driver of health, as well as a national evidence-based movement in medicine toward addressing the economic root causes of poor health.
